Lack of social networking apps that consider local cultural traditions and ethnic diversity

The globalized world erases cultural and national differences, unifying people with similar mindsets, habits, preferences, and tastes. While businesses benefit from globalization and unification, many complain about poor ethnic diversity and disappearing local cultural traditions.

The client approached Innowise for an application combining social media and digital entertainment for Asian and European regions. They wanted a convenient platform to make friends, connect with colleagues, and expand social networks beyond geographic or cultural boundaries across the globe.

Solution

Social network solution featuring chats, channels, music, news, games, and more

Following the customer’s requirements, we developed functionalities based on the best Meta products like Facebook and WhatsApp.

Firstly, we ensured fast and straightforward registration. As soon as users download the app, they are guided through the simple sign-up process to prove their identity and gain access to the app’s capabilities. Users fill in the form, indicating their preferred language and a phone number to verify the account via SMS code.

Chats and calls

Within the app, users can exchange text, audio, and video messages with their contacts. Also, they can easily reach people who do not have the app installed on their smartphones – SMS messages will be sent instead.

Users can create group chats based on their interests and hobbies. Within the chats, they share videos, images, voice notes, locations, statuses, and other content with each other and the community. We implemented end-to-end encryption to eliminate the slightest risk of data leakage and make handling the mobile app secure. Additionally, our project team developed a video streaming option to facilitate peer-to-peer communication.

Since our customer partners with local telecom service providers, the app does not charge traffic for text messages, voice notes, photos, videos, apps, and music for their subscribers. Meanwhile, other telecom providers charge megabytes according to their internal policies and fees.

Channels

Furthermore, users can join channels to access and share information based on their interests and hobbies, as well as create their own channels to spread media content and gain loyal subscribers. With 150+ free channels, we gave users access to the most popular local media sources to read news, find helpful tips, share insights, read favourite articles, and contribute to the community. While browsing the channels, they get the latest news in politics, economy, sports, fashion, beauty, health, entertainment, education, empowerment, and much more.

Since the app celebrates diversity, breaking down language barriers and facilitating cross-linguistic communication, our project team implemented a real-time auto-translating feature, which detects the language and establishes mutually understandable conversations. The text is processed by a machine translation engine trained on massive amounts of bilingual text to generate more fluent and contextually accurate translations, ensuring it fits the social media context and platform’s constraints so that people can understand languages they don’t speak. Thus, a user in Spain can seamlessly comprehend the messages of someone in India, and vice versa.

Music

Within the app, users can listen to popular songs and discover promising artists, accessing free music content updated daily with the latest international and local hits. The app lets you make playlists based on favorite genres, previously liked tracks, as well as current moods, featuring artists from all over the world and covering rap, EDM, pop, hip-hop, and more.

Games

Our project team added minigames to the social networking app, making it more engaging. All the games are sorted by categories where users can search for entertainment through built-in filters and choose from adventures, strategies, puzzles, sports, simulations, roleplays, and educational activities.

Mini apps

Also, we empowered the social platform with distinct mini-apps that provide various content and services, including streaming channels, live podcasts, and other tools to make accessing the app more entertaining. The availability of these micro apps may vary by country.

Money transfers

Our team implemented the option to conduct digital payments within the app for several European and Asian countries. There, users can securely check their balances, view transaction history, optimize expenses, as well as transfer and receive money without assessing their banking application.

Process

Before Innowise joined a dedicated multinational team on the customer’s side, our business analysts figured out the concept of the solution, described the products’ value, defined the target audience, and identified killer features. Then, we suggested optimal software architecture and agreed on an appropriate tech stack. Our front-end developers collaborated closely with UI/UX designers to ensure beautiful user interfaces and intuitive layouts.

The customer highly appreciated our project team’s expertise during the development cycle. We accomplished all project deliverables, meeting the budget and timeframes.
