Client overview

Summarize article with AI

Officine 08 is an Italian e-commerce retailer specializing in motorcycle parts and accessories. Its catalog includes more than 35,000 products across 1,000 categories and 500 brands, available through websites for several European markets.

Challenge

Officine 08 wanted to strengthen the technical SEO foundation of its websites and support organic visibility ahead of a planned migration to a new e-commerce platform. The work also had to account for a planned future migration to a new e-commerce platform.

To reduce SEO risks, our team recommended limiting changes on the current platform to targeted improvements while leaving a broader rework of the MegaMenu and URL structure for the planned migration, an approach the client supported.

Officine 08 runs on a custom-built e-commerce platform with functionality developed specifically for its business, which made the existing setup more complex to analyze and modify. The platform also required updates to catalog pagination, URL handling, canonical and hreflang tags, robots.txt, sitemap.xml, structured data, Open Graph tags, and metadata.

The project also included server response time optimization and crawl rate limiting through Cloudflare. Backend changes needed to be tested and SEO-validated before release.

Improve your website performance

Solution we delivered

Our team combined backend development with technical SEO work to improve search engine access to the catalog and address performance issues across Officine 08’s e-commerce sites. We kept the existing site structure largely intact ahead of the planned migration and focused on targeted changes, with SEO validation before release.

TECHNICAL SEO AUDIT

Our SEO specialists audited the site’s crawlability and indexation setup, including catalog pagination, URL handling, redirects, canonical and hreflang tags, robots.txt, sitemap.xml, structured data, metadata, and server performance. Based on the audit, the team prioritized changes to the current platform while avoiding major structural updates ahead of the planned migration.

We kept the existing MegaMenu and URL structure largely unchanged, as a broader rework could affect organic traffic before the move to a new e-commerce platform.

CRAWLABILITY AND INDEXATION IMPROVEMENTS

The team improved how search engines access and index Officine 08’s catalog. We replaced JavaScript-dependent pagination with a crawlable setup, improved URL handling, corrected redirects and duplicate page signals, and refined the site’s indexing rules and language markup. Our SEO specialists reviewed the changes before release to make sure the updated setup worked as intended.

SERVER PERFORMANCE AND BOT TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

Performance was another priority in the technical work. The backend team tuned the server and brought response time below 500 ms. Cloudflare was also configured to mitigate AI bot traffic and give the team better control over unwanted requests reaching the site.

STRUCTURED DATA AND METADATA

Our team corrected Schema.org markup and added Open Graph metadata across the website. We also refined meta tags using a template-based approach suited to the structure of the e-commerce catalog.

CONTENT SEO AND BACKLINK WORK

Our SEO specialists collected and clustered keywords for priority categories and brands, then prepared content plans based on the findings. The team also reviewed the backlink profile and disavowed spammy incoming links identified during the analysis.

TARGETED WEBSITE IMPROVEMENTS

The project covered smaller website changes alongside the core SEO work. The backend team updated contact forms, language switchers, and other interactive elements where adjustments were required. We also handled Change Requests from the client, including an automated replacement of broken FAQ links based on Product IDs.

DELIVERY AND VALIDATION

Backend changes were tested locally and then reviewed by SEO specialists before release. The team worked in iterations and shared structured progress reports every two weeks.

Client communication took place mainly via email, helping keep requirements and agreed changes clearly documented.

The hardest part here was deciding which changes were worth making before the migration. On a legacy e-commerce platform, even a technically sound change can affect organic traffic if it touches the wrong part of the structure. We kept the scope focused and saved the larger structural work for the new platform.
