It is assistance in building mobile apps for either iOS or Android or both. There are essentially four types of mobile applications: native apps, cross-platform apps, hybrid apps, and PWAs. Native apps are developed separately for Apple iOS and Google Android operating systems. Cross-platform apps use one codebase to operate on both platforms. Hybrid apps use web technologies for a native feel, and typically work well for MVPs or when the need to develop an application starts in-house. PWAs are web apps that have the functionality of mobile apps.
Native development entails the creation of two discrete apps, while cross-platform development involves the design of a single app that runs on both iOS and Android. With native apps, you have the highest performance, complete access to device features, and long-term flexibility. However, native apps are generally more expensive and take more time to develop than cross-platform. Cross-platform apps, on the other hand, can be done at a reduced price and more quickly than native, while still fulfilling the needs of most business cases – except, of course, those that are very complex.
Cost depends on what you are building (the complexity), the features, platform choice (iOS vs Android), design, and the team's experience. The more logic, screens, integrations, security and/or compliance you will have - the higher the price. In most cases, experienced developers will be more expensive. However, they will also finish the work faster with often less mistakes than developers with less experience.
